The first news of 2011 was very exciting, Esmée moved to London to work on her second album. The first new music we heard in 2011 was the collaboration between Esmée and Aggro Santos: “Do You Believe“, the song was featured on Aggro Santos album AggrosSantos.com. She continued working in the studio for her second album and worked with producer Efexx in January.

In December of 2010 Esmée joined Tumblr but she really started posting actively early 2012. Just like the fall/winter 2010 collection Esmée was face and spokeswoman of B’Tempt’d and the brand gained success when Esmée was the model.

Esmée’s first appearance was the MTV Staying Alive Foundation Dinner. She came out to support Kelly Rowland, who she met at the beginning of her career. She also performed during the fundraiser. Her first appearance was also her public debut of her new hair-do: Esmée went from brunette to blond! New hair, new music!

Early February we got a nice suprise: Esmée had an interview and editorial in the dutch Vrouw Magazine with a brand new photoshoot. Esmée also showed us her amazing fashion sense during London fashion week; she rocked a ‘geek chick’ look during the first day of fashion week and looked stunning in red during the second day.

Early March the B.Tempt’d campaign for the spring officially started along with the campaign: “Get Breast Cancer Outta Here” to raise awareness for breast cancer. In mid March Esmée attended the premiere of Anuvahood and PPQ and Office launch in London.

In April Esmée and B.Tempt’d hosted two instore performances to promote the brand and Esmée’s music. She visited London and Manchester. She also had a meet and greet with some fans afterwards. She also debuted a brand new song called “All Around the World” which will probably end up on her second album. She also had a few interviews during the in store events including with Sky Living and Manchester Finest.

Early May Esmée came out to support her friend Chipmunk with whom she collaborated on “Until You Were Gone” during his album release party. She continued working on her upcoming second album and enjoying her life in London. The dutch band Adlicious performed Esmée’s single “Love Dealer” during one of the X-Factor Live shows, it was not the first time one of the contestants of a big talent show performed a song of Esmée. Her song “Outta Here” was covered a lot during the dutch Popstars 2009.

In mid May Esmée gave us a nice surprise, she uploaded a brand new cover via her youtube account. She performed Someone Like You” by Adele and her producer Ben Cullum played the keys. Early June Esmée attended a dinner hosted by Keri Hilson who she first met on tour with Ne-Yo.

Esmée continued working on her second album and kept her fans up-to-date with little updates on the album via her facebook and twitter. Early June she teased us with possible album tracks via her official twitter account and also revealed one of the photos of the artwork. She joined Spotify early July were she shared her favorite playlist.

Different rumors about a possible first single and album release date followed while Esmée continued working in the studio for her second album. We even got a possible track list in the beginning of August. Esmée also made her television debut with a cameo in the dutch series “Zie ze vliegen” and revealed the album title of her second album: “Screaming Out Loud“.

In September Esmée posted a new cover of her singing “Tears Dry On their Own” as a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. Late September Esmée attended London Fashion week to check out the spring collection of David Koma. Esmée producer Karl Gordon released the first remix of Esmée’s first singleCity Light” of her second album “Screaming Out Loud“. The first single will officially release early 2012.

On Halloween Esmée released another cover via her official youtube account, this time she covered David Guetta and Usher with their smash hit “Without You“. She later revealed she will also release the cover on her second album ““. In November it was announced that artist Lauren Bennett would release “I Wishas first single, Esmée and her US manager Billy Man wrote the song together. She attended the MTV Staying Alive Foundation Fundraiser late November to show her support for the Staying Alive Foundation.

To wrap up the year Esmée announced that the release of her second album will be (early) 2012 and she is currently still in the studio to record and finish songs for it. She also released her last cover of 2011: a cover of Bruno Mars’It Will Rain“. She also had a really short live chat to give us a preview of the acoustic version of “City Light” which will be her first single.

Esmée hosted different Q&A (questions and answers) via her social media accounts through out the year. Her fans could send in questions, and she answered a few of them. Her first Q&A was via Tumblr in late February. A second one followed in mid May via twitter. She hosted her first facebook Q&A late June and her second one follow in October and her last one in December.

Our favorite interview and magazine feature is her interview for the dutch “Vrouw” Magazine. She talked about her career, music, childhood and more.

Best Quote
Our favorite quote is from her Manchester’s Finest interview to promote her B.Tempt’d campaign.

It [Youtube] is an amazing platform to create your own fanbase. It gives every artist the power to share their talents to the world no matter where they are from. There really are no limits. Isn’t it amazing?! Because of the internet an artist can build a strong connection with their fans which is why I love it so much. With their love and support I feel like I can take on the world.
-Esmée Denters, on Youtube and the internet

Best project
That’s not really hard since Esmée completely focused on working on her second album “Screaming Out Loud” we have to pick her upcoming second album. It’s set to release next year, and with everything Esmée gave away so far we think it will be worth the wait.

Best Performance
It’s honestly hard to pick her best performance since we loved all the youtube covers she did this year, it really showed us how much she has grown vocally over the past few years and made us more excited for her second album release. We can’t really pick, but our favorite performances are her cover of “Someone Like You” by Adele and “Without You” by David Guetta and Usher.

2011 was a good year for Esmée, and we are so excited for next year with the release of “Screaming Out Loud“. This year we celebrated the site’s 4 Year Anniversairy and we hope many more years will follow. Have a safe New Year’s Eve and we will see you next year!
