Esmée recently revealed she “got a cut on somebody’s album” and it looks like we now know on who’s album. Lauren Bennett, who is currently signed to Interscope, released a new single called “I Wish” written by Esmée and her (US) manager Billy Mann and produced by David Schuler.
You can listen to the song below, we are not sure Esmée wrote it during her recent trip to New York or during the “Outta Here” era but we are happy someone else picked up one of the song she wrote.

Esmée Denters, a dutch 23 year old singer/songwriter, discovered - as one of the first - throughout

I think it’s safe to say Esmée will release her second album next year but I do wonder when she will release the first single.
I am not sure if now is a good time with the holiday season coming up. Most of the time the radio stations play holiday songs in November and December, maybe late December when Christmas is over?
http://esmeeworld.com/ is back btw, I think it was the server. Still the same layout … I was hoping for a new one ;)
Maybe in the fall her first single and her album in the summer. I think it is going to take a while. Otherwise she would have done some promotion by know.
So, I “cleaned” up and edited the City Lights radio rip and re-mastered the volume. :-)

That “I Wish” song sounds fun. :-)
@Niceguy – Thanks for cleaning up the track =D
@Tifanny – If they want to release it this year the single they have to do it like now, otherwise the christmas tracks will take over. So I guess we can expect a single after christmas, and like you said Summer of 2012 sounds good for the album release
I don’t think that would be a good idea to release a single now and the album in the summer. There is too much time between it. And like Lindsey said, the Christmas songs are coming up. They should release the first single right now or wait for 2012.
@Lindsey You’re welcome! :-)
2012 is definitely perfect, a release right now? I don’t see that happening. Early 2012 is perfect for a single and then the album in the summer.
I’d venture to guess the release of any record is put off. She’s asking what cover to do next, putting these up to placate the fans for a while. She has enough songs in the can to put out 3 albums, so I’m guessing there are issues with a label or other legal mumbo jumbo. Hope I’m wrong, but I’m kinda feeling there is not going to be a release for a while till she and her people can work through these issues. Whatever is going down, I hope things go well and she skyrockets on up to the stars where she belongs.
It may sound weird, but I hope they do wait until 2012. I know we want to hear new music like right now but I hope they don’t rush it and wait for the perfect time.
@ Mark – I agree, I suspect that something is going on for a while now. I said this before but it’s just a though time for record labels with the economy. A lot of artist were dropped or had/are having troubles with their labels.
I hope they will close a proper distribution deal this time, I think that never happend with Outta Here since it only got properly released in Holland and the UK and a year later in the US and then only digitally.
I honestly think she’s just taking her time to make sure everything is perfect! Gathering from tweets she’s in much more control of things now, I can only imagine the pressure she’s under from all the decisions she has to make and from herself to make sure everything falls into place while also taking time to express herself as an artist from her heart rather than just rushing and being in doubt/having regrets.
It’s not up to the artist alone these days, I mean you have to have a label who helps you with the PR stuff. An artist can deliver an amazing album, but if the label messes things up an album can go to wast.
@Lindsey Agree, we’ve seen that with Outta Here.
@Lindsey I agree! My point was that Esmée and her team are taking the time to do things right!
No one wants a repeat of the Outta Here campaign.
I think they just don’t wanna rush it, and i think they are looking at the musicmarket nowadays. And all the big female stars had their album in pre-summer out (Gaga, Beyonce, Kelly, Britney, Rihanna). Now all of these artists now are releasing somewhere around their 4th single or whatever. And after Christmas they will take a (short) break (except for Rihanna). January to summer 2012 is the best time to release a new song/album. Although sales are very high around Christmastime too.
That’s my theory :)
