Esmée, Lisa Lois and Nikki are gracing the cover of the dutch magazine ‘MusicMaker‘. They are all suddenly at the top: Esmée got discovered via youtube, Lisa Lois won X-Factor and Nikki Idols 4. The interview is in dutch, they talked about their music, working on their debut, writing their own work and more.
Personally, I think it’s one of the best interviews of Esmée yet. They really talked about her music and her ideas of music. I will translate the interview as soon as possible but now some excerpts:
Writing
“It was a relief to notice how relax the professionals are at the top”, confesses Esmée, “It’s different with each producer, but some of them go back to the basics. You sit with each other behind the piano and write a song quitely.”
Product
Esmée: “I am aware, despite of the creative mood in the studio, that you are making a product. A product that sells big time. It has to be promoted, not all promotion activities are fun. I’m still telling, 4 year afterwards, that I got discovered via youtube by Justin Timberlake.”

“I have a great audience and I hope they will grow with me in the years to come!” said Esmée.

Esmée: “The main element is music, but I also have my own dancers to make it look good. I love the show element! What if I had an endless budget? Oh, I would really go all the way with fireworks, an orkest and a group of men who throw my in the ski!”

“If I do playback I sing along, only the microphone is off. And Auto-Tune … It’s just an effect. I don’t see it as a correction for you voice: I never use it live!”
America
“The mood in the Netherlands is: ‘Just act normal’ … There for I’m really glad I can work in America, now idea is too crazy. And I think it’s amazing to do a collaboration with artist I admire.”

“I just released my new single ‘Love Dealer‘ and the prospect is good. I’m doing everything I can!”
Future
“What will the future bring me? Maybe a conceptual album, new collaborations .. Who knows? I know for sure I’m not going to be the girl who got discovered via youtube by Justin Timberlake!”

True, but you never know. If Love Dealer is gonna do well in UK or US, maybe there WILL be a release of Love Dealer in Belgium! But I have to admit i doubt it. Main focus is now UK/US/NL I guess.
Kinda weird although. She could do a little TV/Radio-tour through some European countries. Just for the epic charts.
I wonder in how many countries they will release the album “Outta Here”. She’s already talking about her second album, but the first one hasn’t even been released properly.

Unfortunately ‘Love dealer’ fell from #12 to #19 this past week, but her itunes sales went (really)up again, so i’m assuming she will be up again next week.
It was weird, cause this past week(Before this one), she had her highest airplay ever..and then she drops…
Radio 538 is so weird sometimes and their so called Dutch top 40.

Esmée didn’t perform Love Dealer on TV, I can’t understandy why. I think Love Dealer will debut in the Top 60 tomorrow.

I think her debutalbum will do fine in the US. I have a feeling there are some new tracks on it. But i agree she needs to promote it more often. But first some well deserved little vacation ;)

I get the feeling that they gave up the first album, and focus on the second album now. Too bad because the first album was really good, it is a shame most people never heard it. I hope they will improve the promotion for the second album. I think the main critic about the first album was that it was not really new stuff, but that it was quite mainstream. I heard the second album will be more experimental, looking forward to heard what it sounds like :) SVP, don’t forget that after all acoustic music fits most so far :)
I think she will go ór more accousitc ór more pop with the new album. And less JT as backing vocals… But i think Outta Here (and the songs) are slow growers. So anything is still possible@

The promo was good I think. But the album was already released and many people bought the album version before the single release probably. But we can guess all we want, the fact is that Outta Here is still the best single for the public. Thats why they should re-release it in the US for sure!
Again those f*ckin’ Dutch haters LOL. I mean no one from the Netherlands has done it so good in the UK like Esmée did, and still they are complaining. Besides i think it will deffinately grow in the charts!

I have all esmee music on my iPod :) The album, all accoustic versions, the remixes of Love Dealer and UntilYou Were Gone and and and… I’m ready for vacation ! :)
promotion cost a lot of money, and maybe theire also want to promote the album in August in the US.
They dont have money for both countries.
Esmee is not performing or doing shows, the songs are not making a lot of money.
Tenman records already made an expensive video with Justin that should really help give Esmee a boost in her career.
I think it is really wrong if theire going to give up her first album that took so long for releasing.
I hope the best for Esmee but for some reason her career is not really doing well.
When Esmee was doing a performance with Chipmunk at those big venues i dont understand why didnt ask her to do Lovedealer.

I think Esmée didn’t perform Love Dealer on TV in the Uk because they will use money with performances on U.S Tv Shows.
Certainly Justin Timberlake and Esmée will perform together on a big TV show in the US.
I really think that after promotion Love Dealer will do very well in the US (radio and iTunes).
